September 2025 will see the return of ProtoPlay, the UK’s premier showcase event for emerging independent game development talent, hosted by Tranzfuser. This year’s event marks a new chapter for ProtoPlay as it moves into a central and dynamic new venue: LiveHouse Dundee – set to become Scotland’s largest versatile events space.
Now in its tenth year, Tranzfuser continues to play a critical role in nurturing the next generation of games studios across the UK. ProtoPlay offers not just a chance for the public to go hands-on with early-stage indie games, but also provides a unique environment for teams to connect with industry leaders and sharpen their business acumen.
The event, running from Friday 19th to Saturday 20th September, will showcase playable demos from all 21 Tranzfuser teams. Attendees can expect a wide variety of innovative titles, from cosy crafting sims to offbeat genre hybrids like farm-themed roguelike chess games.
Held in Scotland’s Unesco City of Design, Dundee continues to build on its rich gaming heritage – home to iconic exports such as Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. ProtoPlay 2025 looks to build on that legacy, offering a space where the public, professionals, and aspiring developers can come together to celebrate creativity, gameplay innovation, and studio entrepreneurship.
Before the public doors open, participating teams will engage in behind-closed-doors industry sessions, including dedicated pitch training with experienced professionals from across the UK games sector. These sessions provide invaluable feedback and mentoring, helping each team better position themselves for sustainable growth beyond the competition.
Deborah Farley, Head of Tranzfuser, commented:
“Tranzfuser 2025 is a milestone for us, celebrating ten years of championing new talent. Bringing the showcase to Dundee – and to such a standout venue as LiveHouse – makes this year particularly special. The games on show are shaping up to be our best yet, and we can’t wait for the public to experience them.”
Tickets for ProtoPlay 2025 are on sale now, with early demand already high. Industry observers and fans alike are encouraged to book early to avoid missing out on this highlight of the UK’s games calendar.
